Experienced Operations Manager having worked on successful rail projects in the UK and Worldwide. Specialist in development of system and user requirements, development of Operation and Maintenance strategies and plans, train service modelling and service analysis including train diagrams, rosters and staffing. Experience in managing operational input to Human Factors. Experience in developing Operational Control Rooms including workstation design and Operation Floor design. Developed and led teams, developed and managed user groups. Knowledge of signalling systems including Manual, NX Power Signalling, ARS, Command & Control, ERTMS and Moving Block. Certified in Planning and Controlling Projects in Primavera P6. Working knowledge of PRINCE2 Project Management principles.
Ian is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistic & Transport (UK) (FCILT), a Fellow in the Institute of Consulting (FIC), a Fellow in the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), Member of the Institution of Railway Operators (MIRO) and a Member of the Independent Rail Consultancy Group (IRCG).

Ian Martin has experience of working overseas in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Israel and Taiwan, as well as twenty four years working with British Rail in the United Kingdom. With thirty two years of rail industry experience overall, Ian has operated his own private consultacy business, I & A Consultants, for the past six years.
Ian's recent signature projects include working on the Abu Dhabi Safeguarding project, delivering Operation and System Development for Israel Railway, consulting on the Taiwan Airport Extention Metro as well as the Doha Airport Proposal and Department of Transport - ITT.
