John is a Railway Infrastructure Engineer with forty years experience in the rail industry. He worked in British Rail for 25 years in technical and managerial positions. Leaving BR in 1995 he worked with a consultancy company for a year before setting up his own successful business as an independent consultant. He has been the main Board Engineering Director for CGL Rail Link plc and as a Project Director and deputy to the Divisional Director with Mott MacDonald. Work has taken him to Hong Kong, Warsaw, Dubai and Sydney. Clients have included Amec, Laing O'Rourke, Thameslink, Network Rail, CBS Outdoor, Alstom, TfL, London Underground, Mouchel, Metronet, Railtrack, AMEC, Skanska, W.S. Atkins, Balfour Beatty, Mowlem and Maunsell. Assignments have included general secretary, Permanent Way Institution; system-wide manager, Sydney Metro bid, Laing O'Rourke, Bombardier and Serco; senior project manager, Thameslink, Network Rail, Railway Systems; integration manager, CBS Outdoor; installation of cross-track projectors and advertising products on LU; track and alignment manager, Mouchel; the Waterfront development, Dubai; project manager, Metronet; managing rolling stock and infrastructure route approvals for the New Engineering Trains Fleet and delivery of track renewals; independent reporting for First Capital Connect and NR on Depot condition; project director, AMEC, rail market business development within the M25 and London office operational support; account manager for Railway Engineering Contract with TfL; project director, Mott MacDonald; crossrail major feasibility schemes and client relationship with NR, LUL and DLR. John is a Freeman of the City of London, a Fellow of the Permanent Way Institution and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences. John is also a member of Independent Rail Consultancy Group (IRCG).
