 Summary Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Paul Salveson MBE FCILT is a well known and highly respected rail professional with over thirty five years experience in a wide range of sectors and disciplines. He originated and developed 'community rail' and was directly involved in the establishment of over twenty community-rail partnerships which have led to increased usage of local and regional railways and additional investment. Paul pioneered new approaches to rail development in the UK including the 'eco station', 'music trains' and 'cyclepoint'; and brought a highly innovative approach to stakeholder involvement, including setting-up and chairing the Northern Rail Cycle Users' Forum. While having substantial experience as a writer and public speaker with a strong commitment to social responsibility, Paul is also a published railway historian and set up the 'Railway Staffs History Network' as well as having a detailed knowledge of heritage railways in the UK and abroad.

Paul is honorary patron of REPTA - the Railway Employees' Privilege Ticket Association, founded in 1893. In addition, he is a Fellow of Institute of Logistics and Transport and a visiting professor at the University of Huddersfield, and a member of the Independent Rail Consultancy Group (IRCG).
